The excitement for cricket fans in the Asian region is reaching new heights as the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has unveiled the timings of matches for the upcoming Asia Cup.
Hosted jointly by Pakistan and Sri Lanka, the tournament promises to showcase thrilling clashes between some of the best cricketing nations in the continent.
Timings and Match Schedule:
The ACC has set the timings for all matches during the Asia Cup to begin at 2:30 pm PST/ 3:00 pm IST/ 8:30 pm GMT. Prior to the start of each match, the toss will take place at 2 pm PST/ 2:30 pm IST/ 8:00 pm GMT.. This standard schedule aims to offer a consistent and convenient viewing experience for cricket fans across the region.
Opening Match:
The tournament will kick off with a sensational clash as hosts Pakistan take on Nepal in the opening match on August 30. For Nepal, this will be their maiden appearance in the Asia Cup, making the encounter even more significant. The match is scheduled to be held in Multan, and cricket enthusiasts worldwide are eagerly anticipating the action-packed opener.
Team Positions:
The ACC has also released the positions of teams for the initial phase of the tournament, regardless of their standings after the first round. Pakistan, as the host nation, will retain the position of A1 in Group A. Similarly, India, another cricketing powerhouse, will remain A2.
However, if either India or Pakistan fail to qualify for the Super 4s stage, Nepal will be given the opportunity to take their position. This move emphasizes the ACC’s commitment to providing equal opportunities and exposure to emerging cricketing nations.
In Group B, Sri Lanka are designated as B1, and Bangladesh retains the position of B2. Similar to Group A, if either Sri Lanka or Bangladesh fails to progress to the Super 4s, Afghanistan will step in to fill the vacancy.
